NEW ARRIVALS AT RANGER CREEK RANCH

Ranger Creek Ranch is proud to announce the arrival of two new litters of puppies. We have three females puppies to offer from the first litter of Willy and Bubba. Willy the mama is 3/4 border collie and 1/4 catahoula, Bubba, the daddy is 1/2 border collie and and 1/2 catahoula, this will make the puppies 5/8 border collie and 3/8 catahoula. The border collie breed gives the puppies supreme intelligence and easy training capability. The catahoula breed gives the puppies grit to work rank yearlings and cows and also training skills and voice when they locate cattle in the brush. These puppies are nine weeks old, vaccinated, weened and ready to go.

The second litter was born November 12, we have four puppies to offer from this litter. These puppies are out of Lucy and Leo. Lucy is a full blood border collie from Canada (she is also Willy's mama), Leo is a full blood catahoula that comes from a long line of good brush dogs. These puppies will be 1/2 border collie and 1/2 catahoula (like Bubba), because these puppies are 1/2 catahoula they will have a little more voice and better training capabilities. They will be weened Christmas Eve (isn't that great timing!)

I have been working this cross of dogs for several years and I am very well pleased with the results, you get the best of both breeds with these dogs. Both breeds are great herd dogs. The border collies intelligence makes them easy to train and willing to please. The catahoula breed gives them courage and stamina along with a good nose to trail in the brush and a voice to let you know where the cattle are. Both breeds are "people dogs" they love attention and are great with kids and have a good disposition. These dogs also make very good exercise dogs for show lambs and goats. Our daughter has used these dogs for the past three years on her lambs and goats with winning results.

We have been very honored to have our dogs featured in the new book (hot off the presses) called "Working Dogs of Texas" written by Henry Chappel, photography by Wyman Meinzer. The book is about dogs that work for a living, from cane dogs to drug dogs to cow dogs and everything in between. This is a "must have" coffee table book that will be enjoyed by anyone who has a dog, has had a dog or wants a dog or just loves dogs (just in time for Christmas). Bubba is featured in this book working cows, recorded proof of his "true grit". Also a dog we have called Buster (who is also our lamb and goat dog) is featured in the May 2009 edition of "Texas Highways Magazine". The article was also written by Henry Chappell. Henry has a blog up at http://byhenrychappell.blogspot.com/ showing Leo at work and telling of his abilities. The book Working Dogs of Texas is available at http://wymanmeinzer.wordpress.com/ (see article below).

Our puppies are priced at $250 each. They carry a Wal-Mart guarantee, if you are not satified with your pup return it within one year (sound and in good physical shape) and we will give you another pup or your money back and you won't even have to show your receipt. You may contact us at ranger@rangercreekranch.com or our office phone 940 888 2478 or cell phone 940 256 3463 or better yet just stop by and see us!!
