There are few things better than a spring Wild Turkey Hunt in the Rolling plains of West Texas. The feel of spring shedding off its cold winter coat, and wildflowers abounding in every field.
Did I mention the heart pounding action of two Rio Grande turkeys fighting for territory and mating rights?
Texas is home to over 600,000 Rio Grande turkeys and Ranger Creek Ranch holds an abundance of these animals. In return, we have a high success rate and liberal bag limits with a lengthy spring Wild Turkey Hunting season.
We recommend 10 or 12 gauge shotguns with full chokes and either 4's, 5's or 6 shot. Full camo, facemask, light jacket, binoculars, quiet boots, rain gear, camera, ice chest, several different turkey calls, flashlight, toiletries and hunting license when on Wild Turkey Hunt. Bows equipped with special turkey broadheads are fine

Guided Turkey Hunt:
Upon arrival you will get settled in at the Ranch and will be given a tour of the accommodations and the amenities offered at the lodge. One of the guides will have an orientation so you will be mentally prepared for your exciting spring turkey hunt. After orientation you will be served a delicious home cooked meal prepared by our kitchen staff. Each morning well before sunlight and after a continental breakfast you will go out with a guide (2 hunters per 1 guide) , and hunt near the roost or feeding area the turkeys have been utilizing. The hunt can last ten minutes to several hours depending on the bird. After the hunt you will come back to the Main Lodge for either a country brunch or lunch, rest for a few hours and then back out for an afternoon hunt until the birds go to roost. The afternoon consists of hunting 3-4 hours of "gobbling action" and can consists of a fair amount of walking and calling to raise a bird and then setting up on him as the bird gets closer. For those that prefer not to walk you will be accommodated as well.

Self Guided Turkey Hunts:
Upon the afternoon of arrival one of our guides will escort you to the area you will be hunting. Hunters are shown the area to hunt within "calling distance" of both roost, strut zone, and feeding areas. You and/or your group will have your own area to hunt away from other hunters.
